Creating Show catalogues
When making a show catalogue, here are some tips to remember:
Here are some example catalogues, to help you get started:
- Use your club logo - This is the 4-H Saskatchewan logo with your club name above. You can create this at https://4-h-canada.ca/brand-app
- Have your 4-H members write a short bio, where they talk about 4-H and their project animal
- Include details about each project animal. This should include breed, date of borth, weight, etc.
- Include contact information for the club, in case a buyer wants to purchase an animal
- Make sure to showcase the project animal and 4-H member in a positive light
- Talk to your regional 4-H specialist for help. They have examples of show catalogues and can advise you. You can also send the catalogue to them to help you with proofing!
- If you would like to market your animals in a Facebook Group, contact your specialist for advice

Judging
Judging is an important life skill that teaches the process of evaluation and how to identify important characteristics that can improve quality in an item or animal. Judging can be fun and challenging, but it can also be very rewarding.
Resources
- 4-H Judging Card - printable 4-H judging cards (fits 2 on a letter sized paper).
- 4-H Alberta's Judging Project Manual - available on 4-H ALberta's website, this provides details on many livestock species.
- Let's Judge - a manual available from the 4-H office (one per club).
Learn to Judge
Many livestock clubs, districts or regions organize judging clinics throughout the year, where members learn how to judge a class of animals or items, as well as how to present their choices. Additionally, many agricultural societies and exhibition associations offer livestock judging competitions to members.
Your Regional 4-H Specialist can present a 'Learn to Judge' workshop for your club, or your club members can attend Judging workshops. Many of the Regional 4-H Judging Competitions have a judging clinic or workshop for younger members or beginners to judging.

Regional Judging Competitions
Regional judging competitions select only the top eight senior members to be Regional Judging Teams. Most judging competitions also combine a judging clinic for younger members. You do not need to be in a livestock project to participate.
