4-H Saskatchewan Statement:
The Saskatchewan 4-H Council Board of Directors met on October 25, 2021 and respectfully discussed the possibility of implementing a provincial 4-H vaccination mandate. After discussion, the board determined the following:
THAT 4-H Saskatchewan will not enforce an organizational mandate for vaccination. 4-H Saskatchewan will follow the requirements of the Saskatchewan government and expect participants to follow the requirements applicable to the venue or activity type being utilized or undertaken.
THAT 4-H Saskatchewan will not enforce an organizational mandate for vaccination. 4-H Saskatchewan will follow the requirements of the Saskatchewan government and expect participants to follow the requirements applicable to the venue or activity type being utilized or undertaken.
- This decision was made as the board of directors respects the direction set through public health guidelines by the Government of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority. This stance also respects our 4-H families and their choices.
- 4-H clubs are expected to follow the applicable public health regulations, municipal restrictions, or requirements from an organization or venue for the facility or activity they are participating in (e.g. if participating in an activity with a vaccine/proof of negative test requirement, those attending must follow the requirement or choose not to attend).
- 4-H clubs are able to select meeting venues or activity types by motion at a general meeting (majority decision).
- Clubs should endeavour to be inclusive to all – this may mean altering attendance options (e.g. allowing for virtual participation) or requirements (e.g. allowing alternatives for meeting mandatory 4-H requirements for those who choose not to attend an event due to COVID/restrictions)
- We respect that 4-H’ers may have varying opinions. 4-H as an organization will refer to information as provided by the Government of Saskatchewan.
- We encourage clubs to continue to utilize basic prevention methods to ensure health and safety at any in person activities (such as social distancing, low or no-touch activities, limit the number of attendees, increased sanitization, or mask use.)
- If a 4-H club is hosting / administering a program which requires proof of vaccination or negative test results, they should contact the 4-H office for support to ensure they are managing information appropriately (medical information should not be collected or stored).
INFormation for 4-H Clubs
Clubs are expected to follow all public health guidelines available on the Government of Saskatchewan website.
4-H Saskatchewan continues to monitor information from our government and will provide support for clubs to implement and follow any relevant public health orders.
Also note that businesses may implement their own restrictions. Please check with the facilities your club uses to see if there are rules in place (such as capacity limits or requiring masks) and if so, respect these requirements.
4-H is a safe, fun and inclusive organization where everyone is welcome – we ask our families to be respectful of all those in their clubs and communities and work together to provide an environment where our members can Learn To Do By Doing.
Remember, there may be people who continue to wear masks or maintain social distance, or who may be hesitant to attend in person events. We know our 4-H'ers will be respectful and kind to ensure everyone feels safe, welcomed and included as we adjust and move forward together. This may mean making some modifications to involve everyone (allowing alternatives for mandatory 4-H activities (e.g. public speaking) or allowing people to attend virtually, for example).
4-H staff are able to support you in offering virtual options for club meetings or project activities if this interests your club.
If you have any questions, please contact the 4-H office at 306-933-7727.

Thank you 4-H'ers!
It has been a unique time since the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency began in March 2020. We’d like to take a moment to thank all of our 4-H families for their respect and perseverance throughout the public health emergency.
We know there were a lot of challenges clubs, members and leaders faced since March 2020 and we believe everyone deserves a huge pat on the back for their resilience. We appreciated seeing your stories about how your clubs modified activities and were able to come together while staying apart.
We are especially thankful to our volunteers and leaders whose careful and creative planning meant our members could keep Learning To Do By Doing, even when there were restrictions.
