Recipients selected for the 2026 Art & Shirley Froehlich Travel and Youth Development Bursary9/22/2026 We officially have our recipients for the Art & Shirley Froehlich Travel and Youth Development Bursary! Congratulations to Kierra Hawreluik with the Sheho 4-H Beef Club and Amy Fradette with the Pangman-Ogema 4-H Club!
The Art & Shirley Froehlich Travel and Youth Development Bursary was created to support international travel experiences as an opportunity for members to grow and learn about their future in agriculture. When Art & Shirley were 4-H members, international travel shaped their 4-H experience. With 4-H Saskatchewan, they now give that opportunity to current 4-H members through two bursaries of $2,000. Selected members have planned their own trips, seizing opportunities that interest them and are beneficial to their own future paths. This year, Kierra and Amy have selected conferences in the U.S. that relate to their careers! Kierra is headed to the Fort Worth Stock Show in Texas to meet with professionals in the beef industry. She says she's "excited to see the differences and how we can bring things from the U.S. into Canada or how we can bring things that we have in Canada to the U.S. and kind of share our experiences and opportunities." With her time in the Animal Science program at Lakeland College, and now continuing education in Agribusiness, Kierra can use this bursary to connect globally with those in her field. The opportunity Amy will be attending is the CANIS Conference (canine advocacy, networking, innovation and science) in Schaumburg, Illinois. Amy has always been passionate about working with dogs, and she says "I'm hoping this conference will kind of get my foot in the door of the dog world." As Amy starts her education at Medicine Hat College, this bursary is allowing her to take steps in her career to eventually reach her goals of becoming a specialized dog trainer. Both senior 4-H members stand to gain valuable life experiences thanks to this travel bursary. 4-H Saskatchewan is grateful to work with the Froehlichs each year to support these opportunities for our members. We hope that this years recipients and those who apply in the future can continue to grow and learn, just as Art & Shirley did when they were 4-H members!
