Club Week

What is Club Week?

In 2017, 4-H Saskatchewan introduced Club Week. This is the first week of November (from Monday to Sunday), encompassing Show Your 4-H Colours Day. Club Week was introduced as a way to connect 4-H members across the province through their 4-H pride, while giving back to the community.

Every year, we will have a different Sustainability Initiative for 4-H members to participate in. The first year, we decided to donate to the local food banks across the province. We donated a collective 2,042 pounds of food! It was exciting to see so many 4-H families participating. In 2018, the Sustainability Initiative was a clothing drive, to help support the Saskatchewan Association for Community Living and we surpassed our goal!

In 2020, we will be holding an electronics recycling drive. We will have a thermometer soon on this page to track how much we recycled in November!

Please note: Your electronics recycling drive can be held anytime in the month of November. It does not have to be held during Club Week.

Our secondary goal is to lower your energy usage and come up with a project to help do this.

Sustainability Initiative - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Sustainability Initiative?
Each year, 4-H clubs from across Saskatchewan work together to give back to our communities through our Annual Sustainability Initiative, which happens during Club Week. Club Week will take place November 2-8, 2020. This year, we are doing electronics recycling.
Why are we doing an electronics recycling?
This year, our theme is “STEMing to the Beyond” under the Science & Technology Pillar. Electronics ties into the technology side of this pillar and gives clubs the opportunity to help their community.
Is it a fundraiser for 4-H Clubs?
No, the Sustainability Initiative is not a fundraiser. This initiative was created to show 4-H’ers’ community spirit and engagement. The goal of the Sustainability Initiative is to bring more awareness to 4-H and the great things our members do in their home communities.
How do we participate?
It is really easy to participate! The first step is to gather electronics recycling from your 4-H members or in your community. Please fill out the online form on this page to sign up to host an electronics recycling drive in your community!
What will we receive if we sign up for the Electronics Drive?
We will send your club’s contact information and when you would like to host your drive to Recycle My Electronics. They will send you out a collection tote and some marketing materials (posters, etc.) for your club to use. Please note: You will need to provide wooden pallets to put your tote on.
How do you put on an electronics recycling drive?
There are a couple of ways to host an electronics drive!

1. Set up a drop off location within your community
  • Find a centralized location where people can drop off their electronics. This should be outside, where a forklift will be able to pick up the tote on the pallets. Please take the weather into consideration and cover your collection tote with a tarp, to keep snow and rain out of it.

2. Tell people in your community about a collection day
  • You can plan a collection day, where you drive out to local farms and agreages and pick up their recyclable electronics. Ask them to put them at the end of their driveway on a specific day at a specific time, to ensure you are following social distancing! You can then bring them back to your tote and pallet drop off location
What can I recycle?
Some of the recyclable items include:
  • Display devices (TVs, monitors)
  • Non-cellular telephones
  • Home audio/vidoe systems
  • Computers
  • Printers
  • Gaming systems
  • Microwaves
  • And more!

What is our goal?
Our goal is to collectively recycle 3,000 pounds in the province! This is approximately one pound per 4-H member.
How do we tell the 4-H office how much we collected?
Call the office to speak with one of the regional 4-H specialists or the program and communications specialist:

Kaitlyn (South West) – southwest@4-h.sk.ca

Are There any resources to help me get started before my tote arrives?
