If you have any questions, or want to apply for the Regional Specialist Position, email: manager@4-h.sk.ca Provincial curling was a huge success in Prince Albert at the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club on February 16-18, 2024. There were various teams from each region who were able to join in the bonspiel for a total of 15 teams; 7 Junior teams and 8 senior teams playing throughout the weekend with District #32 hosting.
The weekend started off Friday afternoon with the first draw taking place at 4pm. The banquet was held Saturday night, where all the teams were introduced. A grant total of around 190 curlers, family and friends attended the banquet and dance! Members had a great time getting to know one another during the curling and dance! Thank you to the District #32 Curling Committee for hosting an exceptional event. They would like to thank the local Sponsors for the event: TKC Trucking, MNP, Phoenix Counseling & Wellness, Huma Terra, 4-H Saskatchewan, Parkland Ambulance Care Ltd., RNF Ventures, Pat Biddy, Lindsay Barker, Jackie Packet, A2Z Safety Training, Fresh Air Experience, G-Mack, Tiene Energy, Ensign Drilling, Prince Albert Highlanders Pipes & Drums, Save-On-Foods, Glenn Grass The Bonspiel winners are below: Junior 3rd place NE - District #20 Foam Lake 4-H Beef Club 2nd place SE – District #12 Springside 4-H Beef Club 1st place SE - District #41 Carnduff & Area Beef 4-H Club Senior 3rd place NE - District #26 Tisdale 4-H Beef Club 2nd place- NW – District #33 Northern Spirit 4-H Club 1st place- SE - District #7 Pangman-Ogema 4-H Beef Club Congratulations to everyone who attended! 75 competitors from 10 different provincial 4-H, college or University teams gathered at The Atlas Hotel in Regina Saskatchewan on Sunday November 19 for the 2023 Canadian National 4-H & Youth Judging Competition. Along with 11 team chaperones (thanks to Stacey Hawkins and Crystal Murphy), participants enjoyed a tasty supper, with words from event sponsor Corteva Agriscience. Participants received an informative orientation, followed by guest speaker Quick Dick McDick. The competitors then judged a Scenario Class (minerals), Milk Composition and Steaks. Competitors gave written reasons on these three classes.
Monday morning, competitors were bussed to the Agribition grounds where they judged: Speckle Park Heifer Calves, Dairy, Heavy Horses, Charolais Bred Heifers, Hereford Bull calves and Texas longhorns. Throughout the afternoon, participants gave oral reasons to a variety of judges. Monday evening came to a close after an awards banquet with words from event sponsor, TD, and greetings from the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. David Marit. Awards were then presented, with the final placings being announced:
Team Award: University of Saskatchewan Everyone who participated in this competition did a great job and we want to congratulations all the winners, especially our 4-H Saskatchewan alumni, Hillary and Justin! It was a fantastic event! 2023 Provincial 4-H Judging was a success!
This event, held on August 18 & 19 in Weyburn SK, hosted 41 competitors from six Regional Teams: Lloydminster, Saskatoon, Whitewood, Weyburn, Swift Current, and a Multi-Regional Team made up of participants from all over the province. Competitors arrived on Friday night for registration and supper, followed by two judging classes: Feed Evaluation and Agility Dogs. The evening was wrapped up with a fun game of music trivia. Saturday consisted of the remainder of the judging classes: Beef Heifers, Light Horse, Breeding Ewes, Meat Cuts, Mystery (Flower Arrangements), and a Grains (Wheat) class provided by title sponsor, Viterra. Thank you Viterra! Competitors then gave Oral Reasons on many of the classes, and the day was wrapped up with an Awards Banquet. UPDATE: Results are in! The final placings for 2023 Provincial 4-H Judging have been adjusted and can now be released. Due to one of the classes being removed from the Final Placings on account of a miscalculation in scoring, the final results look as such:
It should also be noted that Canadian Western Agribition has permitted 4-H Saskatchewan to send 12 competitors to the Canadian National 4-H & Youth Judging Competition in November, so the above-mentioned competitors are all eligible to attend as members of the 4-H Saskatchewan Judging Team!
