Cera's 4-H Global Summit Experience - part 2

July 13, 2017

On Day 3, themed Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, we started with inspiring keynote speaker Chris Koch, who was born without arms or legs.  Today, he is a farmer, as well as a motivational speaker and avid traveler spreading his "if i can"(so can you) message.   Chris had many adventures to share and explained that, with  independence and determination, he has been able to do nearly anything from driving a tractor to skateboarding down stairs. He closed with a wonderful statement to remember: " if you're worried about how you look, you're cheating yourself out of opportunity". You can learn more and see videos at

I also learned all about the Global Youth Institute

We closed the day with "4-H Night in the Country" at the Central Experimental Farm where there was a BBQ supper, line and square dancing demonstrations, two live bands and the opportunity to explore Canada's Agriculture Museum and the experimental farm.  There were also local 4-H clubs displaying and demonstrating their projects including sheep, rabbit, healthy living, fitness, gardening, arts, field crops and even maple syrup!
