About Us

For nearly a century, 4-H Saskatchewan has understood youth and their need to be involved, accepted, valued and heard. The 4-H program strives to encourage individual growth in young people by developing self-confidence, the ability to make wise decisions and a responsible attitude toward community service.

You can spot a 4-H member at 150 paces. They maintain eye contact, they are confident and they are able to interact with ease.

 – Teresa Clouston, 4-H Supporter

By recognizing the potential that exists within its members, 4-H acts as the vehicle that drives their creativity, increases their knowledge and challenges their comfort zone. Being part of a 4-H club connects members to a network of friendship, leadership and support within over 200 clubs, coordinated by over 800 volunteer leaders.

4-H has been one of the best parts of my life. The things I have learned trickle down into everything, whether it is school, work or play. Our leaders, chaperones and staff are amazing people that provide us with such positive role models. They are the people that teach us to take initiative, and turn into role models ourselves. 4-H has had an undeniable impact on my life, and I look forward to the day that I can become a leader to give more youth the valuable experience that I got. Needless to say, I am a proud 4-H’er.

4-H has given me so many opportunities. I have got to meet so many friends and develop a ton of new skills that I use each day. It has also given me a good idea of what I want to do in my future. I have learned that "Learn to Do by Doing" is very true, and I use that motto in more than just 4-H.

4-H is the best youth program in Canada. 4-H incorporates experienced based learning and teaches members and leaders how to be better people in this world. 4-H teaches life skills that are a huge asset to young people going out into the real world. I have had so many opportunities given to me through the 4-H program and I couldn't be happier. I owe 4-H a huge debt of gratitude for the amazing things that I've learned while I "Learn to Do by Doing". 4-H has changed my life.

4-H has boosted the confidence of my children. We have only been involved for about four years and they have been the best years, as we learn to do by doing together.

I enjoy many of the things that 4-H does (public speaking, curling, etc.) and I feel as though each time I attend an event outside of my club gives me opportunities to learn new things and meet new friends.

When I joined 4-H, I had trouble speaking in class. The first year in 4-H when I had to do public speaking I cried and couldn't do it. This year, I got all the way through my speech!!!!! It made me feel so good. Next year is going to be even better. My teacher at school told me to keep riding my horse and doing 4-H because it sure has helped me.

There are so many great opportunities from trips to scholarships, but my favourite part is the people you meet and friends that you make.

Although the 4-H program has its roots in rural Saskatchewan, 4-H Saskatchewan serves all youth throughout the province who are 6 to 25 years of age and of all racial, cultural, economic and social backgrounds. 4-H also relies on parental and leader involvement, making it a program for the whole family to participate in.
